About the Trip

I bought my first Vespa – a 2007 Ferrari Red LX 150 – several months into the pandemic. I quickly fell in love with riding it across New York City and would daydream of taking it on longer trips. Over the winter months and long Covid lockdowns, I started having stretches of the imagination about riding across country on my scooter. My notion for a cross-country adventure on an Italian scooter turned into an obsession and gave way to planning.

I upgraded to a new 2020 modern Vespa GTS, read numerous blogs, watched many videos, took some longer rides, convinced my wife it was something I “needed” to do (Actually, that was easy), did a few upgrades on my Vespa, and put the dates on the calendar. The plan is to leave Midtown Manhattan on May 26th and arrive in Long Beach, CA on June 11th. I have a few national parks and small towns that I want to see along the way, but I will let each day bring its planning and adventure.

About the Blog

I created Vespa Ventures - Born to Be Mild to capture my memories and to share those with my family and friends who want to keep track of my trip. I am not a great writer nor am I a great photographer. You are warned.
